I don't like group tours ❌ and I'm also afraid of signing shady contracts. ✅So, even though Guizhou is full of group tours, I still chose to travel independently. There's only one advantage to group tours in Guizhou: transportation. But after this trip, I found that it's totally manageable. 👀And independent travel is truly free!! I can make plans and choose attractions as I please. For example, most group tours wouldn't take me to Yelang Valley, which I really wanted to see. So, if you want to travel independently, sisters, you can refer to this⬇️⬇️ 【Day 1】✈️Shanghai - Guiyang 📍Stayed near Huaguoyuan Shopping Center, where there are tons of night markets. I indulged in the night market food; it was cheap and delicious. (Everything in Guiyang has chili powder🌶️... Changwang Noodles are worth trying. If you can't handle spicy food, be sure to tell them in advance! 【Day 2】Guiyang Yelang Valley🗿➕Travel to Libo County 🔸Morning: I've always wanted to go to Yelang Valley. I took a taxi🚖 from the hotel, which cost about💰20–30. The artist Song Peilun👨‍🎨 seems to have created these stone statues in his own image. The details are very interesting; the eyes and mouths are made of tiles. Seeing the comparison photo from 1997 and the scene in front of me now was quite shocking! There were some intangible cultural heritage craftspeople scattered around the park. It was admirable to watch them make all kinds of small things up close👍🏻. Later, I found a pottery workshop through a hidden back door and learned how to mold clay with the teacher👩‍🏫. 🔸Afternoon: I booked a ride through a ride-sharing app the night before🚗. The Seven Small Arches Bridge reflected in the crystal-clear water was one of the most picturesque spots we found 📸 The best time to visit is in spring when the waterfalls are full, and the greenery is at its peak. 📍Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Area, Libo County, Qiannan, Guizhou, China We also explored the Jiabang Rice Terraces, an incredible sight that showcases the beauty of Guizhou’s rural landscapes. Visit the historic cultural city of Zhenyuan Ancient Town in Guizhou and stay at the Fucheng Hotel. The hotel is built along the banks of the Wuyang River, with Shibing Mountain at its back. Its exterior features a classical Huizhou style with elements of the ethnic minorities of Yunnan and Guizhou, blending well with the architectural characteristics of the ancient town, giving it a quaint and classical charm. The hotel's location is excellent, being very close to Zhenyuan Ancient Town and Shibing Mountain Scenic Area. There are also many cultural attractions along both sides of the river, such as Kuixing Pavilion, Fire God Temple, Fuwen Temple, Zhenjiang Pavilion, and Zhenyuan County Museum, all within walking distance, making it very convenient. Most importantly, the price is affordable. A double room with breakfast costs less than 1200 TWD per night, and the room size and facilities are quite good. One of THE highlights of 2022 was dragging my beloved Summer Feet™ to their first (and second! And third!) loved location - one of which almost turned into a brawl because, you know, no tougher street than the hike between hills and rice fields.(but that's a story for another day). The Xiaoqikong scenic area is located in Southwest County, Guizhou Province. Xiaoqikong, which means "Bridge with seven little arches" is renowned as a wonderful summer resort in Libo County. From Libo County, we took a taxi and the whole journey was about 30 minutes. We walked to the entrance building, presented our identification cards (Passport for foreigner) and paid for entrance fee. Inside the scenic park, there were free bus rides to take tourists to different sites.
