2025 Geylang Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)
All Trip Moments about Geylang
King Fruit Durian
Durian season is back & this time round with the oversupply of durians, prices are very competitive everywhere.
And here I am, at King Fruits Durian (水果王) in geylang. They have all varieties of durian, prices ranging from as low as $2 for 1 durian.
This time round, I didnt order MSW. I've decided to try the cheaper range. I've gotten 2 x $5 D13, 1 x $10 Red Prawn & 1 x $10 Sultan King. And it actually tastes quite good, given the price I've paid.
They have table & chairs for you to dine in & even provide small bottle of mineral water (self-service)
Overall, I think this is a nice place to come for durians. The staff are all very friendly & willing to help u choose the durians you want, even if you are buying the cheapest $2 durian.
Be there earlier to get good durians.

The residents of Geylang, Singapore, come from many different countries. Although it is a famous red-light district in Singapore, I like it because there are many Chinese and Western buildings. In addition, I can communicate with Malaysian Chinese, compatriots from China who work in Singapore, and even talk and drink beer with ordinary foreigners.
Authentic Vietnam BBQ In Sg
Address - 45 Lor 27 Geylang, Singapore 388177
Ambiance/Facilities - non-air-conditioned coffeeshop
Highlights - Vietnamese style BBQ & dishes
Avg. Price per Person - $10-25/pax
Rating - Went on Monday 1245pm and was glad to catch e last table available inside rather than 2 roadside tables under the sun. Coffeeshop was non-air conditioned but rather airy with fans. Ordered the bbq platter($39) that came w charcoal base with an additional order of seafood fried rice($7.90). As food gets cook on the charcoal, alot of smoke and heat constantly came around hence it started became rather hot and sweating to eat comfortably nor enjoy the bbq food. Foodfare wise was nt too bad otherwise. Could totally imagine during dinner service with 1 or 2 more tables ordering bbq it could have been worse! Will recommend to come experience once if one have not had authentic Vietnamese bbq before but perhaps not be re-visiting anytime soon due to its ventilation and heat, smoky environment. Would rather enjoy a korean/japan bbq much more w much lesser smoke given same heat condition.#foodie #本地遊 #
Ming Hui Frog Porridge: A Must-Try Food in Geylang, Singapore
#AugustDestinations2025 #Singapore #Geylang #Food
Ming Hui Frog Porridge is a local delicacy in Geylang, Singapore. It's a street food spot, and the decor is simple, but you can taste its unique flavor. 👍
The porridge is more like Cantonese porridge, quite mushy. The food is quite good and delicious, and the side dishes are also very good with rice, but the dark color does take some getting used to. 😂
The bill is also written in the traditional paper slip style, which is really cool.

[Singapore] K hotel 1515
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
I stayed at K Hotel 1515 in the Geylang district of Singapore! There are many food stalls and supermarkets in the area, making it a very convenient location for local cuisine and shopping. The rooms are simple and functional, equipped with air conditioning, TV, kettle, etc., and free Wi-Fi is available. The beds are firm, the showers are comfortable, and the quality is sufficient considering the price.
The staff were friendly and check-in/out was smooth. However, some rooms feel a bit small and old, so I hope the building will be upgraded.
Good value for money as a base for travel. I'm looking forward to seeing the atmosphere after the renovation next time I visit. This hotel is honestly recommended for short stays and price-conscious trips😊

【Singapore】Gourmet Tuan Hock Kee
We visited "Tuan Hock Kee" located in the Geylang area of Singapore! On a weekend evening, this long-established eatery nestled in a lively residential neighborhood is loved by local families and regular customers alike!
When we visited around 2 PM on a Saturday, it was relatively quiet, so it might have been a good idea to avoid peak hours!
The mapo tofu was spicy and authentic, a thoroughly satisfying dish! Also, the most popular chicken rice features tender, moist chicken and elegantly fragrant rice in perfect balance. When dipped in the special chili sauce and black vinegar sauce, a sweet and sour flavor with just the right amount of spiciness spreads throughout your mouth! The interior has a simple, old-fashioned local feel, allowing you to relax with a beer in hand!
The gentle flavors and cozy atmosphere completely healed our travel fatigue! This is a heartwarming place we definitely want to visit again!
Everyone, please be sure to check it out!!

🌆 Geylang: A Scene Straight Out of a Vintage Hong Kong Film
#springitinerary
#Geylang #Singapore #RetroVibes #HongKongStyle
👣 If it weren’t for the food, I probably wouldn’t have come here. But this isn’t the kind of place that wins you over with appearances — it’s gritty, real, and unapologetically authentic.
🚶♀️ Walking Route I Took:
Take the East-West Line (Green Line) and get off at Kallang MRT Station. From there, walk straight along Geylang Road heading east. If you get tired, you can turn onto Sims Avenue and take a bus, or keep walking all the way to Aljunied MRT Station.
🍲 The streets are lined with old-school food stalls under makeshift canopies. In the late afternoon, only a handful of locals linger, sipping tea and chatting — the kind of quiet scene that feels like time’s been slowed down.
It’s got serious “Let’s skip work and go for tea” vibes — straight out of a retro Cantonese film.
📸 Don’t expect Kowloon Walled City drama or the human warmth of old Changsha. What you get here is a kind of raw, unfiltered authenticity that feels frozen in time.
🌃 If you love the look of old films — oil-slicked roads, flickering neon, faded shop signs — Geylang might give you a moment of time travel.
That said, if you're not a food hunter, this place is totally skippable.
But if you’re into local eats — congratulations, you just found one of Singapore’s best-kept foodie secrets. 🌙🍜
📍 Quick Tips:
Daytime is quiet — perfect for casual street photography
Evenings are when Geylang comes alive with bustling food stalls
If you're a solo female traveler, visiting in the evening is best done with a friend for safety

A Taste of Warmth and Charm
#singaporetrips
One of the highlights of my Singapore trip was discovering this quaint and cozy cafe. The warm green walls, wooden furniture, and eclectic decor created such a homely and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the bustling city and enjoy some quiet time.
I ordered their creamy mushroom soup paired with crispy garlic bread, and it was pure comfort in a bowl! The soup was rich and flavorful, and the bread was perfectly toasted with a nice garlicky kick. It felt like the ultimate comfort food, especially in such a relaxed setting.
What made this cafe special was the mix of vintage charm and artistic touches in the decor. From the unique wall art to the quirky shelf displays, there was so much personality in every corner. If you’re in Singapore and looking for a chill spot with great food and cozy vibes, this cafe is a must-visit!
🇸🇬 Purrfect Escape: SGCathouse Cat Cafe in Geylang
#newyearnewtrip Visiting SGCathouse Cat Cafe in Geylang is a delightful experience for cat lovers. Nestled in a cozy corner of the bustling neighborhood, this charming cafe offers a peaceful escape where you can unwind while surrounded by adorable, friendly cats. The cats here are all super social, each with their own unique personality, making for endless entertainment and cuddles.
Whether you're sipping on a cup of coffee or enjoying a light snack, it’s easy to lose track of time while interacting with the playful felines. The cafe is thoughtfully designed with cozy corners, offering a relaxing ambiance for both the cats and visitors. It's the perfect spot to destress, have some fun, and enjoy a few hours of furry companionship. Whether you're a local or visiting, SGCathouse is a must-visit if you want to experience the joy of cats in a tranquil setting right in the heart of Geylang.

Singapore Geylang IBS is good
Cheaper stay and friendly staff.
My current trip to Singapore, we stay at another Ibis budget hotel named Iblis Budget Sapphire Hotel. it is a simple budget hotel which has surprisingly big room with a Queen bed and a single bed with a big window (closed). just nice for a family of four like mine and for short stay.
it is near to public transport and lots of coffee shops and restaurants.
It's staffs are very friendly and helpful.
🏖️Ambiance/Facilities:good
📍Address: located in Geylang, Singapore , lorong 10.💰Average Price per Person:SGD 700 per pax.
Solo baby elephant
A single room with a high personality ratio, suitable for solo travelers.
Geylang is considered to be an old district in Singapore. Different from Sentosa and Kallang, the prices in Geylang are more affordable and the rooms and areas are also older. However, there are two subway lines, EWL and CC, for transfer. There are also many buses at the 7-11 bus stop opposite the hotel that go directly to the Merlion Park and Little India area, which is very convenient.
Back to the room, it is older, but it has a TV, a refrigerator, a cold enough air conditioner and a window, which is very nice. The beds are comfortable, but the number of plugs could be increased. The toilet is average.
Geylang Streets
#travelanywhere
At Geylang, you must try out the king of fruit which is the durian. There are quite a few varieties of durian to choose from. This round I have ordered more of their king of fruits which is more superior. As the price is lower than musang Wang durian . If you want to try them out, you can visit here as there are many stalls there. Just like in Taiwan, we will always try out their red mango which is very sweet and delicious. They also have other types of mango to choose from.
Popular makan street

Geylang street is a place where you can find fragrance fruits as well as lots of popular dishes there. If you like steamboats and hotpots, you can try out some of the restaurants here that offer spicy mala hotpot .There are also dim sum available here. During the night time the place would be lighted up and there will be more crowds coming in . This brings back our travel memories where we enjoyed the night life when travelling in Bangkok . There are many shopping streets there open until late at night. We like the Ratchada area where there are many night streets.

Geylang Fruit Stall
#travelanywhere
It is the durian season again. Geylang is one of the more popular areaa where you can find many stalls selling fruits such as durian and many others more. Do visit in the evening time as the durian will arrive from 5pm onwards. You will definitely have an enjoyable meal here. It brings back my memories when we had our durian feast at the Bangkok city. we enjoyed the durian there too. Even though the breed might be different, they are both tasty and creamy . Best of all, we do enjoy the fruits.

Geylang Changjiang No.1 Frog Porridge
I was deeply impressed by the Changjiang No. 1 Frog Porridge Restaurant in Geylang, Singapore. The frog porridge in the restaurant is very delicious, with a thick and smooth porridge base and tender frog meat with excellent taste. I especially recommend their dry pot frog, which is spicy and delicious with a strong flavor. The restaurant environment is clean and tidy. Although the decoration is simple, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The waiters are friendly and the service is fast. The overall dining experience is very pleasant. The price is reasonable and cost-effective. If you like frog porridge, this restaurant is definitely worth a try.
Awesome spot in Ubi Singapore
Hotels with red light districts
The location is great, there are lots of food and it's lively! But there is a famous red-light district nearby, and you can see pink lights when you look out of the room! Those who don’t like it might want to think about it! The room is about the same size as a Japanese hotel, pretty standard!
