Very interesting piece of history 🇮🇹🏛️

Visiting the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum was an unforgettable experience. Located about 20 minutes from Naples by train, the entrance fee was €13—absolutely worth it! Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum is much smaller but even better preserved. The ancient homes, thermal baths, and even wood elements have survived, giving a unique insight into Roman life before Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. Walking through the streets feels intimate, like you’re getting a private glimpse into the past.
I was particularly struck by the vivid frescoes and mosaics, which are still so detailed. The House of the Deer, with its beautiful courtyard and sea views, was a standout. You can spend 2-3 hours here easily, and it’s less crowded than Pompeii, which made for a more relaxed visit. If you have time, you can pair it with a visit to Mount Vesuvius or Pompeii, which is just a short ride away.
Herculaneum gives a fascinating glimpse of history, and it’s one of those places that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Ancient city of Herculaneum 🗺️

Just got back from visiting Herculaneum, and it was absolutely fascinating! 🏛️ This ancient town is often overshadowed by Pompeii, but it’s so well-preserved and much less crowded. The entrance fee was €13, and it’s worth every cent. Walking through the ruins, you can see homes with original wooden beams and even some of the second stories still intact. It feels like you’re stepping back in time, especially when you see the stunning mosaics and frescoes that have survived for centuries. 🎨
One of the highlights was the House of the Deer, with its beautiful courtyard and marble decorations. The bathhouses are also incredibly well-preserved, and you can still see the intricate tile work. 🚿 Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum was a wealthier town, so the houses are a bit more luxurious, offering a different glimpse into ancient Roman life. The site is smaller and more manageable, so you can explore at a relaxed pace without feeling overwhelmed.
Afterward, I took a short drive to the nearby Naples Archaeological Museum to see even more artifacts from the site. If you’re a history buff or just love exploring ancient ruins, Herculaneum is a must-visit! #trip #Herculaneum #AncientRome #Italy #Archaeology #HiddenGem

Archaeological Park of Herculaneum 🗺️
I just returned from an incredible trip to the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum in Italy, and it was absolutely fascinating! 🏛️ Located in the Campania region, near the modern city of Ercolano, Herculaneum offers a unique glimpse into ancient Roman life. The entrance fee was about 13 euros, which is a bargain for the opportunity to explore such a well-preserved site.
Walking through the ancient streets, I was struck by how much detail has been preserved. From the intricate mosaics and frescoes in the villas to the wooden structures and everyday items, it felt like the town was frozen in time. The highlights for me were the House of the Deer and the beautifully restored bathhouses. 🏺
Nearby, you can visit the more famous ruins of Pompeii, which are just a short train ride away. For a change of pace, the beautiful Amalfi Coast is also within reach, offering stunning coastal views and charming towns like Positano and Amalfi. Don’t miss a visit to Naples, where you can indulge in the world’s best pizza and explore the vibrant city life.

Just had the most mind-blowing day at the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum! 🏛️🌋 Tucked away near Naples, this ancient city has risen from the ashes of Mount Vesuvius and is an absolute must-see. The entrance fee was around €16, a small price for stepping back in time.
Walking through the preserved ruins, you feel the pulse of daily life in Herculaneum – the well-preserved houses, vibrant frescoes, and even the eerie remnants of ancient wooden furniture. It's like time travel without the DeLorean. 🕰️✨
The highlight for me was the Villa dei Papiri, a luxurious mansion with its own private library. Imagining the life of the elite in this seaside paradise was surreal. 🏰📚
Post-Herculaneum exploration, take a short stroll to the Herculaneum Marina for some sea breeze and panoramic views. 🌊⛵ Grab a gelato and just soak it all in.
For more ancient wonders, Pompeii is a stone's throw away. The juxtaposition of Herculaneum's more intimate setting with Pompeii's grandeur provides a fascinating perspective on Roman life. 🏛️🌿
Wrap up your day at a local trattoria – the flavors of Campania will dance on your taste buds. Naples' pizza is legendary, and you're right in the heart of it all. 🍕🍷
Herculaneum, you left me enchanted! #HerculaneumMagic #TimeTraveler #ArchaeologyAdventures #ExploreItaly
