Known for its diverse landscapes, beaches and mountains
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Girona (Region)
Port de la Selva, located in the northern Costa Brava, is known for its diverse landscapes, beaches, and mountains, such as Sant Salvador and Puig de Queralbs, which form part of the Sierra de Rodes Mountain Range.
The settlement's earliest recorded history dates back to 974, but it didn't become a full-fledged village until the 18th century, with the construction of its first church. Fishing was the village's primary economic activity until the advent of tourism in the 20th century. Despite this, Port de la Selva retains its small fishing village charm, boasting numerous monuments and archaeological remains, such as the Tabarrera Dolmen, the medieval ruins of the Sierra de Rodes (composed of the Monasteries of San Pered de Rodes and San Salvador), the Castle (13th century), the Shrine of Santa Elena and Santa Cruz (village), and the Church of San Frutos. El Port has been part of the Cabo de Creus Nature Reserve since 1998.
