Camping in Svinafell 🏕️
#campingfun
Camping in Svinafell, Iceland was one of the best experiences of my trip! Located right in the heart of the Vatnajökull National Park, the campsite was surrounded by incredible glacier views and rugged mountains. For around 2,000 ISK per night (about $15), I set up my tent in a peaceful spot with facilities like hot showers and a kitchen—super handy after a long day of exploring.
The highlight of my stay was hiking up to Svinafellsjökull Glacier, just a short walk from the campsite. The views were breathtaking, and I even spotted some ice climbers braving the blue ice walls. There’s no entrance fee for the glacier, which makes it even better. If you’re looking for more adventure, the famous Skaftafell National Park is nearby, with its stunning waterfall, Svartifoss, and more hiking trails to explore.
Overall, camping in Svinafell felt like I was in another world. The crisp, fresh air and the closeness to Iceland’s wild beauty made it truly memorable.

Amazing Diamond Beach
Diamond Beach is one of the most spectacular places in Iceland. It's a black sand beach littered with huge chunks of ice that have broken off from the nearby Jökulsárlón glacier and were carried all the way to the beach. You can explore the area on foot or join a short boat tour. Bring a bottle to carry some of the melting water, which is so pure and delicious. Wildlife enthusiasts will also find many birds here.
Diamond Beach is located in Jökulsárlón on the south coast of Iceland. You can get there on your own with a rental car, or join one of the daily tours. The area itself is open all day and is free of charge, though you do have to pay for the boat tour.
The highlands in Iceland is one of my favorite places on Earth. The different textures and colors that cover the landscape are absolutely breathtaking. One I have is to rent a 4x4 vehicle and drive yourself out into the highlands. You travel through rivers, crossing by beautiful scenery. I would recommend having a guide though, or at least a map, because getting lost can be pretty easy to do. Iceland will always be one of my favorite places to travel to, and that’s why I highly recommend checking it out! #iceland #awesomepic #europe
If you ever go to Iceland in wintertime visiting the ice caves is a must do. You’ll need to come in a cold period as you walk on the frozen glacier lagoons and the ice caves are actually ice bergs stuck in the frozen ice. You need a local guide to keep you safe on the ice, very warm clothes and then just go explore. The caves change every year and always look different. Every time I come here I’m so amazed about what nature can create and its forces. The glaciers and ice from it are just incredible!

If you're in Iceland hiking a glacier is a must. It's sp special and a complete different nature experience. Walking between ice falls and cracks is scary but rewarding. Go with a guide who has the right equipement and knowledge.
The beach at Stokksnes peninsula in Iceland. You will not find white sand and palms here, but its truly one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to.
The famous glacier lagoon in Iceland was beautiful, just after a storm had passed. Large pieces of ice everywhere
We spent half of the day here, watching seals fishing between big pieces of ice floating! We were dying to visit this place, a dream came true.
Icelandic itinerary and season selection advice
When will you come to Iceland?
Aurora's most observable month is from September to April, and the blue ice cave is visible from October to March, so if you really want to see Aurora and experience the Blue Ice Cave, you have to be in these months. coming. However, due to the extreme night phenomenon in December, it is recommended to go to October, November, February, and March. At midnight in February, at 9:00, and at 6:00, there is still plenty of sunshine. Touring.
Small advice on the itinerary:
1 Do not schedule too tight! Stay in the place you like very much for a night, such as the Straw Mountain, near the glacial lake, because it is very likely that the weather is very violent and it is impossible to visit.
2 Allow enough time for the event you want to participate in. In the summer, there are glacial lake cruises, horse-riding tours, boat-to-sea whale watching and other summer-specific projects. In winter (including part of spring and autumn), there are winter-specific projects such as blue ice caves and snowmobiles. After booking the project, give enough time for these experiences and try not to travel long distances to the project site.

Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon: A Frozen Fairy Tale
In the distant land of Iceland, there is a mesmerizing place called Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon😃.
When you step onto this magical land🎈, the first thing that catches your eye is the massive, floating ice blocks🧊. They break off from the glacier, like lonely giants, drifting slowly in the tranquil lake. Some ice blocks are crystal clear, as if they were meticulously carved artworks✨; others have deep blue veins, as if hiding ancient secrets💙.
The lake water presents a breathtaking deep blue💦, so clear that it seems to pierce through the river of time. A gentle breeze stirs, causing ripples on the lake surface, and the ice blocks sway as if dancing a silent and elegant dance💃. The surrounding mountains tower into the clouds, their peaks covered in pristine white snow❄, like guardians of this fairyland.
Walking along the lakeshore🚶, you can hear the crisp sound of ice blocks colliding, as if nature is playing a symphony🎵. Sunlight shines on the ice, refracting into a myriad of colors🌈, making the entire ice lake resemble a giant gemstone mine.
Here, time seems to stand still🕛. You can sit quietly by the lake, immerse yourself in the boundless tranquility, and let your soul be completely relaxed😌. Or, take a small boat🚤, weaving between the ice blocks, and feel the wonders of nature up close. When your hand touches the cold ice, an indescribable magical feeling spreads throughout your body🌟.
At sunset, Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon showcases unparalleled beauty😍. The golden afterglow dyes the sky orange-red, and the ice blocks and lake water are bathed in a warm glow🌅, as if the entire world is set ablaze🔥. At night, the starry sky and the ice lake echo each other, with the brilliant Milky Way seemingly within reach💫.
Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon is a precious gift from nature🎁, allowing us to appreciate the wonders and beauty of the Earth. If you have the chance, be sure to visit here and experience this unique shock and beauty🎉.
Hvannadalshnukur
#familytrips2024
Approaching Hvannadalshnúkur, anticipation surged within us like the icy winds sweeping across its towering peak. As we embarked on the ascent, the rugged beauty of Iceland's highest summit unfolded before our eyes, a majestic sight that stirred a sense of awe and reverence. Traversing the glacier-clad slopes, each step brought us closer to the summit, our hearts pounding with exhilaration and determination. Standing atop Hvannadalshnúkur, surrounded by sweeping vistas of snow-capped peaks and vast glaciers, we felt a profound connection to the untamed wilderness and the indomitable spirit of exploration. In that moment, amidst the serene beauty of the Icelandic highlands, we were reminded of the boundless possibilities that await those who dare to dream and strive for greatness.
Looking ahead, our next dream destination beckons from the rugged landscapes of Patagonia. We envision trekking through pristine wilderness, gazing upon towering granite peaks and turquoise lakes framed by ancient forests. Patagonia's remote beauty and untamed wilderness promise an unforgettable adventure, where every step is a journey into the heart of nature and every vista is a testament to the power of the wild. It's a destination that ignites our sense of adventure and fills us with a sense of wonder, inviting us to explore the uncharted corners of the world and forge lasting memories with loved ones.
Glacier Walks and Midnight Suns
Skaftafell, nestled within Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland, offers an extraordinary blend of ice, sky, and volcanic landscape, making it a dream destination for adventurers and nature lovers alike. My expedition to this icy wonderland was nothing short of spectacular, featuring glacier hikes, breathtaking waterfalls, and the unforgettable phenomenon of the midnight sun.
The highlight of my trip was a guided glacier walk on one of Skaftafell's sprawling glaciers. Strapping on crampons and wielding an ice axe, I ventured into a world of deep crevasses, towering ice formations, and the mesmerizing blue hue of ancient ice. The expertise of our guide ensured safety while allowing us to experience the glacier's majesty up close. This hands-on exploration of one of nature's most formidable creations was both humbling and exhilarating.
Beyond the ice, Skaftafell is home to some of Iceland's most stunning landscapes. The hike to Svartifoss, a waterfall famed for its basalt column surroundings reminiscent of organ pipes, was a journey through a fairy-tale forest leading to a view that took my breath away. The contrast of the dark columns against the cascading water creates a visual masterpiece that epitomizes the beauty of Icelandic nature.
Visiting during the summer months, I was treated to the surreal experience of the midnight sun. The extended daylight hours allowed for more exploration, with the golden hour stretching into infinity, offering perfect lighting for photography enthusiasts and a unique natural spectacle.
For those planning to visit, be prepared for all types of weather, even in summer. Layers are your best friend in Iceland's unpredictable climate. Also, booking glacier tours and accommodations in advance is a must, as Skaftafell's popularity among visitors has grown.
One tip I would offer is to take the time to simply sit and absorb the vastness and silence of the landscape. In today's fast-paced world, the tranquility found in the heart of Iceland's natural beauty offers a rare moment of reflection and connection with the earth.
My journey through Skaftafell was a testament to the power and beauty of nature, leaving me with memories of awe-inspiring landscapes and moments of pure wonder under the midnight sun.

It's the ice that is the diamond, but what shines is your heart
Iceland, a unique and independent place. Here you can not only appreciate the volcanic blue ice cave. But the diamond beach is not to be missed. 😍😍😍
🌟Highlights:
Iceland's unique black beach, formed by volcanic rock weathering. And on it are the perennial ice left by the glacier. Crystal clear, worthy of the name of diamond. 👍👍👍
Although the cold wind is biting, but holding a piece of it under the sun is really dazzling. Paired with the distant waves of the sea, everything is so perfect. 🤭🤭🤭
Refreshing, absolutely unseen elsewhere.
Immerse yourself in the realm of ice and fire - Iceland
Iceland combines ice and fire, where the scenery allows you to experience the beauty of two polar opposites at once.
North: Step into the glacier national park, traverse the vast glaciers, as if you are in a world of ice and snow.

THIS IS NOT A POPULAR GLACIER?
THIS IS NOT A POPULAR GLACIER?
When you think of glaciers, Fjallsárlón Glacier is probably not the first one that comes to mind because it’s less well known to the public! This stunning glacial lake filled with beautiful icebergs is often compared with the commonly known Jökulsárlón! Did you know that the duo are in such close proximity that they are only just a few kilometres away from each other? Unlike Jökulsárlón, here you can get up close and personal with the glacier from the shore, and sometimes get very close to the colossal ice blocks that regularly run aground on the bank (just like the photos!) The ice changes colour depending on the sunlight and varies from white to blue to black with the great Öræfajökull in the background! The next time someone mentions about Glaciers in Iceland, don’t forget to show them this! 🌎🇮🇸

Iceland Jokulsarlon Glacier
I VISITED A DIAMOND BEACH FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Nestled along Iceland's stunning southern coast lies the enigmatic and alluring Black Diamond Beach. With its jet-black volcanic sands glistening like precious gems, this otherworldly landscape is a photographer's dream and a nature lover's paradise. The juxtaposition of the obsidian-hued sands against the roaring white-capped waves of the North Atlantic Ocean creates a mesmerizing spectacle that's both surreal and captivating.
The beach owes its name to the countless glimmering ice chunks, resembling black diamonds, that wash ashore from the nearby Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. As the sunlight dances on these ice fragments, it's as if you're standing in the midst of a celestial treasure trove (Literally, in the last pic!)
Visiting Black Diamond Beach was an unforgettable experience, a chance to witness the raw forces of nature at their most dramatic. It's a place where the elements collide, where icy remnants and volcanic sands meet, and where every step feels like a journey into the heart of Iceland's wild and untamed beauty. Exploring this unique destination is like stepping into a different world, one that's surreal, serene, and simply spectacular. #BlackDiamondBeach #IcelandicBeauty #NatureWonders #TravelDreams

Iceland Glacier Lagoon 🗺️
#timetotravel
My visit to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland was a surreal encounter with nature's artistry. Nestled in the southeastern part of the country, this otherworldly lagoon dazzled me with its icy expanse and floating icebergs. As I stood on its shores, the glacial giants reflected in the water's stillness, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. The vivid blue hues and the haunting silence were captivating. The lagoon's remote location and its accessible hours allowed me to absorb its tranquility. The Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon wasn't just a destination; it was a testament to the Earth's wondrous creations and a poignant reminder of the impact of climate change, leaving me in awe of its beauty and humbled by its fragile existence.

After a sleepless night, my brain was idle for a whole night.

Until dawn, the clouds were torn apart by the morning air.
I drove to Diamond Beach.
In the warm and subtle sunrise
Watching the waves wash the beach.
