Gannan Impressions (1) - Langmusi is not a temple

📍Location: Ruoergai County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan 🚗Transportation: Self-driving 👍️Must-visit spots: Geerdi Temple, Gandan Saichi Temple 🎟️Ticket information: Geerdi Temple ticket 30 yuan 💗Other tips: The Gannan tourist loop attracts many travelers with its beautiful scenery, treacherous roads, and the mystery of Tibetan Buddhist temples. However, many backpackers make a cognitive mistake by thinking that Langmusi is the name of a temple. Before reading the January and February 2016 issues of 'China National Geography,' I always thought that 'Langmusi' was a temple when I saw the name. Backpackers also thought it was the name of a temple, right? But in fact, 'Langmusi' is the name of this small town, and there is no Langmusi temple in Langmusi Town. This is a magical town with a history of over a thousand years. This is the intersection of the Tang-Fan Ancient Road and the Tea-Horse Ancient Road. The main temples in Langmusi Town now are 'Geerdi Temple,' 'Gandan Saichi Temple,' and 'Langmusi Mosque' (Figure 4). Additionally, this town is unique as it is jointly managed by Sichuan and Gansu. Geerdi Temple belongs to Sichuan, while Gandan Saichi Temple belongs to Gansu. (There is a detailed introduction to Langmusi Town in the January and February 2016 Gansu special issues of 'China National Geography.' Interested friends can find and read it, which will greatly enhance your understanding and knowledge accumulation of this magical town. If you can't find the physical book, you can read the electronic version by downloading the official app.) Figure 5 is Geerdi Temple, with a ticket price of 30 yuan per person, and cars can drive in. Langmusi Mosque is diagonally opposite the main gate of Geerdi Temple. The coexistence of temples of different beliefs is one of the magical features of Langmusi. Now that I think about it, the biggest regret of my trip to Gannan in 2021 is not staying overnight in Langmusi Town, not exploring the canyon behind Geerdi Temple, and not visiting Gandan Saichi Temple. The Namo Grand Canyon behind Geerdi Temple is the source of the Bailong River, with clear water and shallow streams, warm in winter and cool in summer.
