One-day trip to Zhuhai

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has been completed and opened to traffic for several years, but I have never gone to see it, nor have I thought about going to see it. This time, my child's summer homework included an essay about the rapid development of China, and since Zhuhai is close, I thought we could go and take a look. After all, it is one of the new Eight Wonders of the World. We booked a bridge tour bus for 4:30 PM. So, there was plenty of time before that, and I decided to take my child on a special forces-style one-day tour. 1. Arrived at Zhuhai Station and took a taxi to the New Yuanming Palace. We strolled around the park, but most of it was under construction. The only impressive part was the Grand Brightness Hall directly facing the entrance, and the Western-style buildings on the left were also decent. Other than that, there was nothing much to see. 2. After leaving the New Yuanming Palace, we took a taxi directly to the Sun and Moon Shells. Whether viewed from afar or up close, the Sun and Moon Shells are indeed a major highlight. At the foot of the Sun and Moon Shells, there is Haiyun City, which has many dining options. We had a nice lunch there and also bought egg tarts and butter cookies from Puji, which were indeed delicious, just as recommended online. 3. After lunch, we rented a shared bike and rode along Lover's Road. We passed by Yeli Island (we didn't go onto the island due to time constraints), City Balcony, and the Zhuhai Fisher Girl. Further ahead, there is the Love Post Office. However, as we approached the Zhuhai Fisher Girl, the road became very narrow and crowded, making it inconvenient to ride. So, we parked the bike and crossed the street to take a taxi to the Zhuhai Port, ready to get on the bridge. 4. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge tour costs 198 yuan per person, and I think it is worth it. The round trip takes 30 minutes each way, and you stay on the artificial island for about 70 minutes. On the way there, the staff will explain the surrounding scenery, and once on the island, another staff member will introduce the construction process of the entire bridge and some of the challenges overcome. 5. After the tour, we took a taxi back to Zhuhai Station, ending our day trip. Overall, it was not very tiring.
