The world's oldest Carp Brook

Carp Brook (鲤鱼溪) is located in Puyuan Village, five kilometers west of Zhouning County in Fujian Province. It has been rated as "the most beautiful village in Fujian" and one of the top ten tourist attractions in the province. Originating from the Song Dynasty and spanning 800 years, it was included in the Guinness World Records in 2008 for its "three world uniques" (fish tomb, fish burial, fish sacrifice text) as the "oldest Carp Brook". Carp Brook originates from the foothills of Ziyun Mountain at an altitude of 1448 meters. It gathers dozens of mountain streams and flows down, winding through peaks and turning with the water. Upon reaching the entrance of Puyuan Village, the water flow slows down, meandering through the village with five bends and six curves. The stream runs through the village, stretching one li (about 500 meters) long and several meters wide. In the stream, seven to eight thousand colorful large carp swim leisurely, "coming at the sound of human voices and gathering at the sight of human figures," "competing for food with colorful scales fluttering," tame and docile like "divine fish." Their graceful postures are lively and adorable. The water is knee-deep and clear to the bottom, with carp filling the stream, hence the name "Carp Brook." Carp Brook does not attract tourists solely with its unique and magnificent scenery but also showcases a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and fish, integrating into one. It demonstrates the mutual respect and affection between humans and fish, a "human-fish" culture that allows you to truly feel close to nature and purify your soul.
