Shijiazhuang Hutuo River Cliff Swallow Nature Reserve Day Tour

Hey, I recently went to the Shijiazhuang section of the Hutuo River. It is a treasure of nature! This river is about 100 kilometers long. The sandy cliffs along the river were originally a nesting paradise for cliff swallows. I heard from the locals that there were many suitable places for them to settle down here before. Unfortunately, due to the river management in recent years, there are fewer and fewer cliff swallows. It is very distressing. Fortunately, there are many bird lovers and CBCGDF volunteers who have been speaking out for them and trying their best to protect them. Now, there are only three cliff swallow habitats left in the Shijiazhuang section. The one I went to is the closest to the road. I heard that it was rescued after the bulldozer stopped halfway and called for emergency! The other two are on the lake island in the Gaocheng section. The location is remote and relatively safe, and no one disturbs them. This place is on the south bank of the Hutuo River in Zhengding County. It is considered a cliff swallow protection area. It is open to the public free of charge and does not require tickets. It is very suitable for weekends. You can also camp here, right next to the river, with fresh air and beautiful scenery. It is definitely a good place to relax. Every April, tens of thousands of cliff swallows fly back from the south and densely peck holes on the sand cliffs to build nests. The scene, wow, is spectacular! The nests are next to each other, like a beehive on the cliff. Especially in the early morning or evening, thousands of swallows fly around, holding small branches in their mouths, busy "decorating" their new homes, it's simply a show of nature! It happened to be the beginning of May when I went there. I heard that April to May is the peak of nesting. From May, you can see the little swallows hatching. In early June, the little guys learn to fly. Don't mention how cute they are! The point we went to was on the cliff of Shadao next to the Hutuo River Bridge, a typical habitat for cliff swallows. Many people took their cameras there and had a lot of fun taking pictures. I couldn't help taking a lot of pictures. I felt that I could take a big picture with just a click of the shutter! In short, this trip made me feel shocked and a little emotional. The natural scenery is really beautiful, but it also reminds us to take better care of the homes of these small creatures. Next time if you want to find a place to relax, Hutuo River is definitely worth a visit. Bring a tent, a camera, and a few friends, it's a good choice!
