Tayun Mountain, Shangluo, Shaanxi Province

Tayun Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain located in Zhen'an County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province, China. It is known for its unique natural scenery and Taoist culture and is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The main peak of Tayun Mountain is 1,665.8 meters above sea level and resembles a pagoda, hence the name. The ancient Taoist buildings on the mountain were built during the Ming Zhengde period (1505–1521) and consist of one pavilion, one pagoda, one temple, one hall, and nine palaces, with a simple and elegant style. Especially the Golden Top Guanyin Hall, built on the top of Tayun Mountain, is suspended on three sides over a deep abyss and is known as the "pillar of Qin and Chu, the Taoist temple on the top." Tayun Mountain is famous for its steepness, strangeness, beauty, majesty, and divinity, with different scenery in each season, making it suitable for travel all year round. The scenic area is lush with trees, with a forest coverage rate of 98%, and has more than 1,300 species of plants. In spring, visitors can enjoy the mountain flowers, in summer, the coolness, in autumn, the red leaves, and in winter, the rime, with each season having its own unique scenery. The ticket price for Tayun Mountain is 80 yuan in peak season and 50 yuan in off-season, and it is open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00. Visitors can reach Tayun Mountain by self-driving or public transportation. Self-driving routes include departing from Xi'an and taking the Baomao Expressway, exiting at the Tayun Mountain toll station, or departing from Ankang City and taking the Baomao Expressway to Dongping Station, exiting the expressway, and then taking the Mumu Road to Tayun Mountain. In terms of public transportation, visitors can depart from Xi'an, Ankang, Shangluo, and other places, take a bus to Zhen'an, and then take a special tourist bus to Tayun Mountain from Zhen'an Bus Station. The nearest airport is Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, the nearest train station is Zhen'an Station, and the nearest high-speed rail station is Xi'an North Station. Tayun Mountain is not only a treasure trove of natural scenery but also a holy place of Taoist culture, worth a visit.
