At the end of September, the Hexi Corridor trip included a highly anticipated stop at Zhangye Danxia. Before setting off, I kept thinking of the Dark Mountain from "Detective Di Renjie." Does Danxia also carry that eerie and mysterious feeling? This made me very curious about this land and couldn't help but wonder what stunning surprises are hidden in the words "colorful." But just before departure, some things happened, and my mood wasn't as bright and colorful. I caught the earliest mountain shuttle to wait for the sunrise. There were already some tourists at the viewing platform. We were all waiting; the September wind was a bit cold, but everyone was looking forward to the moment the sun would rise. In my earphones, a newly discovered song was playing on loop—Hua Chenyu's "Living Facing the Sun." I rarely listen to his songs, but that day the melody and lyrics struck me deeply. I wished I could watch the sun break through the clouds accompanied by the shout of "living facing the sun." But that day was thickly overcast, and the expected golden rays never appeared. Just like that thing in my heart hoping to "see the light," it remained in waiting for now. But I did not despair because I believe in the light, believe that everything is as usual, believe in the growth of all things, and believe that we will eventually face the sun. Danxia without the big sun instead had a gentle, healing feeling. Reds, yellows, oranges, browns... layers of colors were still vivid under the cloudy sky. The most popular viewing platform was crowded, and I loved that sincere color, but at the same time, I also loved the tranquility of those less-visited platforms. Riding the sightseeing bus stop by stop, the wind carried the crispness of the Gobi Desert. Watching the natural, magnificent patterns, it felt like the wrinkles in my heart were slowly smoothed away by this grand scenery. It turns out that cloudy Danxia is also beautiful, just like life is not only worth living when the sky is clear. Even if there is no light at this moment, there is always healing power around—maybe a song, maybe a mountain, or maybe the never-extinguished belief deep in the heart. And we will eventually wait for the light that belongs to us✨
