The Torii Gate Floating by Lake Kinrin

The torii gate standing in the middle of Lake Kinrin is incredibly striking. Its reflection on the lake is especially beautiful. On a clear day with calm waters, the surface of the lake becomes like a mirror, creating a stunning view. Located in Yufuin, Yufu City, it is accessible by a 15-20 minute walk from the station. The torii gate was relocated to the lake as part of the Tenso Shrine after the Meiji-era separation of Shinto and Buddhism and the subsequent abolishment of Buddhist temples. Behind Lake Kinrin, you’ll find Tenso Shrine. This area was bustling with tourists during my visit.
