Waterfall Country In The Beautiful Brecon Beacons, A Natural Wonder Of Wales

Wales might be small in size but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in natural beauty, including the Brecon Beacons National park. The Waterfall country section begins about an hours drive north of Cardiff near Merthyr Tydfil and is made up of multiple hikes of varying difficulty. They take you up through the lower beacons through lush green forest along the river, along the way you will find the namesake waterfalls in various shapes and sizes. Depending on rainfall the main waterfalls can differ throughout the year, but always be careful around the water! There are various old ruins along the way but unfortunately no information or signage about what they used to be! However most is related to the old coal mining industry that used to dominate this area. At the foot of the hikes is a small village where you will find toilets, car parking and a few pubs ( some do takeaway food in containers for hikers) and a small tourist information board. The tourist information center is now closed. Overall a stunning part of wales with some very accessible hikes! But remember to always be careful, be aware of the water and take a bag for your rubbish!
