Nanxi River

The Nanxi River is very large, with many scenic spots, about over 800 in total. There are many ancient villages, and it would take about 2-3 days to visit them all. If you have ample time, you can stay at Nanxi River to fully immerse yourself in the slow life. The village is situated on the mountain, surrounded by mountains on three sides. The houses are made of wood and built along the hillside. Every household has bamboo shoots drying at their door. A small stream runs through the village, making it a great spot for photography. Near the parking lot, there is a small alley you can walk into for free, but it's not easy to find. We only discovered it when we were leaving. Cangpo Village was established in the second year of the Xiande era of the Later Zhou Dynasty during the Five Dynasties (955 AD) and has been a settlement for the Li family. The current Cangpo Village was rebuilt in the fifth year of Chunxi during the Southern Song Dynasty (1189 AD) by inviting the national teacher Li Shirri to arrange it according to the Feng Shui theory of the Five Elements and the layout of the 'Four Treasures of the Study.' It has a history of 840 years now. Inside, there are some ancient buildings, such as Renji Temple (Kunqu Opera House), Li Family Ancestral Hall, Xi Learning Temple, Huifeng Pavilion, Official Residence, and Pen Street. There is a path next to the toilet at the entrance parking lot that allows direct access for free. To the left of the entrance, there is a stone bridge that leads to the village, and to the right, there is an ancient street from the Qing Dynasty with a 300-meter-long river corridor hung with big red lanterns. On one side, there are cafes and restaurants, and on the other, across the river, you can see ancient bridges and trees. You can order a cup of coffee and sit on the corridor to enjoy the view. This place is even more famous for its night scene when the red lanterns are lit, creating a beautiful atmosphere.
