[Kanagawa Prefecture/Hashirimizu Shrine] A shrine where you can see Yokosuka from the grounds

Hashirimizu Shrine in Yokosuka. The deities worshipped are Emperor Yamato Takeru and his wife, Ototachibanahime. In the 80th year of the reign of Emperor Keikō (110), Emperor Yamato Takeru bestowed a crown on the villagers of this area, who buried it in the ground and built a shrine there. During his expedition to the east, Emperor Yamato Takeru encountered a violent storm while crossing the Hashirimizu River, but Ototachibanahime offered herself to the sea to calm the anger of the sea god, allowing him to safely land in Kazusa Province. Within the grounds, there are reliefs and a monument to Ototachibanahime. It is said that Togo Heihachiro and Nogi Maresuke were present at the construction of the monument. The shrine is located on a hilltop, and from above you can see Tokyo Bay.
