Huanghe Ancient Ferry Original Ecotourism Scenic Area

The name of Huangsha Ancient Ferry originates from Huangshazui. During the Western Xia period, the Hengcheng ferry was an important transportation hub. There was a place called Huangshazui to the north of Hengcheng, hence the Hengcheng ferry was also known as "Huangsha Ancient Ferry" Huangsha Ancient Ferry is located at the border between Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. The ancient ferry site includes attractions such as Xingwu Camp, Huangsha Ancient Ferry Yellow River Tower, Ninghe Platform, Hengcheng Fort Ferry Yellow River Stone Carvings, Zhu Jian's Patrol Border Statue, and the Great Camp of the Northern Desert. On top of Ninghe Platform, there is also an exhibition of ancient boats on the Yellow River. To the north of the ancient ferry site is the impression area of the ancient ferry market. In front of the ferry, there is a quaint wooden yuèmén built on the mudflat, with a pair of river-guarding beasts on the sides facing the Yellow River, and a pair of stone lions on the back facing the yellow sand, each with its own majesty. The Yellow River flows northeast at the ancient ferry site, turns eastward at Bayannur in Inner Mongolia, and then turns south at Togtoh, becoming the boundary river between Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces. Yueya Lake Located on the east side of the middle reaches of the Yellow River and the west side of the Mu Us Desert, within the Xingqing District of Yinchuan City. It covers an area of 0.14 square kilometers, with an average depth of 1.3 meters, a storage capacity of 182,000 cubic meters, and a mineralization degree of 2 grams per liter. It is a type of ox-bow lake. The water storage is unstable. The soil in the lake area is mainly aeolian sand and alluvial soil, and the surface is composed of marshes, rivers, and mudflats. It has a continental climate, with an average annual temperature of 8.1°C, an extreme maximum temperature of 30.7°C, an average annual precipitation of 160 millimeters, and an average annual evaporation of 2000 millimeters. The vegetation is mainly composed of psammophytic plants, including reeds, red willows, sand willows, jujube trees, bulrush, and Populus euphratica, among other arbor and shrub species. There are over 40 species of birds, including gulls, geese, mallards, sand martins, cranes, white cranes, and sandgrouse, and more than 20 species of mammals, including foxes, hares, badgers, snakes, sand lizards, gerbils, weasels, and lynxes. In 2008, Yueya Lake Wetland Park was established, covering an area of 23.7 square kilometers, and is an important part of Huangsha Ancient Ferry. Viewing Sun Platform The Viewing Sun Platform is the commanding height of the Huangsha Ancient Ferry Original Ecotourism Scenic Area, from which one can see the full view of the Yellow River wetlands, the vast and boundless desert, and the undulating sand dunes. Looking west, one can see the flat fields that stretch for thousands of miles, which are the Ningxia Plain nurtured by the ancient Yellow River. Looking east, one can see the Ordos Plateau. Folk Culture Museum The Folk Culture Museum comprehensively reflects from different aspects the historical appearance of the artistic, aesthetic, labor, living, folk customs, local customs, and sentiments of the people of various ethnic groups in the northwest region and the Yellow River basin during different historical periods. It is also a historical witness to the cultural integration of various ethnic groups in northern China over thousands of years.
