- This time, I took the opportunity to visit Yantai, a city that often appears in China's modern history, on my way back to Qingdao. To understand the history of this city, Yantai Mountain Scenic Area is a good place to go. The city's modern historical buildings, the iconic Yantai Mountain Lighthouse, and the harbor built along the mountain, may not be as well-known as Penglai Pavilion, but they can better showcase the historical charm of Yantai. After parking in the parking lot outside the scenic area, you can see a street with obvious characteristics of the times - Chaoyang Street, which, with the lighthouse behind it, forms a landmark building group of the city.🏘️ 👉Scenic Area Overview As a base for patriotic education, the scenic area is open to tourists for free. There are modern historical buildings in the area. Walking here, you will be stopped by the endless buildings to slowly appreciate them. Unlike the concession buildings in Tianjin and Beijing, here it is surrounded by mountains and sea, with different heights, and the perspective of viewing the buildings also varies. It is similar to the Badaguan in Qingdao, but unlike the German-style red roofs in Qingdao, due to the opening of Yantai, 16 countries have built buildings here one after another, making the color and type of buildings here more diverse.🎉 👉Scenic Area Highlights 【U.S. Consulate】 The U.S. Consulate, which has a history of more than 150 years, has now become a coffee shop for tourists to rest. Its excellent location allows tourists who have just entered the scenic area to see it at a glance.🤓 【British Consulate】 This building was the British Consulate at that time. As the earliest consulate among the 16 countries, it shows the enthusiasm of the British Empire, which was never setting sun at that time, for expanding its overseas influence. Now the building is a museum of historical materials. 【Former Residence of the Deputy Tax Commissioner of the East China Sea (Peking Opera Art Museum)】 After the Second Opium War, according to the unequal treaties of the Tianjin Treaty and the Beijing Treaty, the Qing government was forced to open Dengzhou as a trading port. Later, after the British minister came to China for inspection, he believed that Yantai was more advantageous than Dengzhou for building a port. Under pressure, the Qing government opened Yantai. Now this building is open to tourists as the Peking Opera Art Museum. 【Holly Corridor】 On the way to the lighthouse, there is a holly corridor. For such man-made scenic corridors, we are already used to it, but the history of this corridor can also be traced back to a hundred years ago. The entire corridor is about 190 meters long. The sunlight penetrates the dense branches and leaves and shines on the ground, giving the entire corridor a sense of light and shadow, attracting many tourists to rest and cool off here.🍃 【Alliance Cliff Bridge】 After passing the Ralang Pavilion in the scenic area, it is said to be a good place to watch the sunrise in Yantai. After passing the pavilion, you can see this wooden bridge. The wooden bridge is built between the cliffs, because it is located at the Alliance Cliff, so it is named "Alliance Cliff Bridge". Although it is in the center of the city, the quality of the surrounding seawater is visibly good. Without any filters, the seawater under the film can also be called clear. 【Yantai Mountain Lighthouse】 As one of the symbols of Yantai, the Yantai Mountain Lighthouse was built on the original beacon tower. The earliest completion time can be traced back to 1905 (the 32nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty). After Yantai was forcibly opened in modern times, it provided services for nearby merchant ships. However, due to the rudimentary facilities of the lighthouse at that time, it could not meet the daily shipping requirements after the liberation of our country. In April 1988, a new lighthouse designed by Tsinghua University stood on Yantai Mountain, which is the lighthouse we see now. The newly built lighthouse is 49.5 meters high, with a total of thirteen floors. The platform can accommodate 200 people for sightseeing. The strong light of the lighthouse can reach 40 kilometers.👍 【Cheongsam Museum】 After descending from Yantai Mountain Lighthouse and following the road, you will arrive at the Yantai Mountain Chinese Cheongsam Museum. The ticket price is 10 yuan per person. As an interactive experience museum, there are three floors in the museum. Each floor is designed in a thematic style. Here you can deeply feel the charm of Chinese national costumes. When we first entered the door, we saw the museum staff making paper lanterns, as if they were decorating for an upcoming event. Unfortunately, we did not catch up with the explanation in the museum. We only saw the form of the flowers and horses. In the end, we just took a few photos and left in a hurry.😂 We did not see the precious celebrity cheongsam exhibits rumored in the museum, which is a bit regrettable. However, several original cheongsams with distinctive features in the museum left a deep impression on me.🥸 👉Travel Insights After coming out of the Cheongsam Museum and walking back, there are still not many tourists on the road. You can slowly appreciate the buildings on both sides, look at the mottled walls, and taste the traces left by the years. The embassies of various countries in the past no longer have the high halo, leaving only the appreciation and discussion of today's people. From these existing buildings, we can peek into the history of the past.📖 When we left, the sky became cloudy again, and the embassy under the green onion seemed to have a new look.
