Yangzhou City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, is located in central Jiangsu, in the Suzhong region, at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is a city in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta. It borders Yancheng City and Taizhou City to the east; the Yangtze River to the south, facing Zhenjiang City across the river; Nanjing City to the southwest; Chuzhou City, Anhui Province to the west; and Huai'an City to the northwest, with a total area of 6,591 square kilometers. As of the end of April 2024, Yangzhou City has jurisdiction over 3 districts, 1 county, and administers 2 county-level cities, and has additionally established 3 functional zones. As of the end of 2023, the resident population of Yangzhou City was 4.585 million.
