Lotus blooming at Semiwon during Hot summer

Summer could be very scorching to many travelers but could be enjoyable at the same time, and definitely there are many activities to be done during this hot season. Between July and August is the peak blooming season of lotus flower. At Gyeonggi-do, there is a park called Semiwon which has several enormous ponds which houses thousands of Lotus plants whereby flowers will bloom during the day time. There are 3 major colours of lotus flower: pink, light pink and white blooming, accompanied by the lotus leaves. Since long time ago lotus flowers were considered pure as there is a saying goes: not contaminated though emerged from the soil. Lotus flower was also highly regarded in Buddhism as the verses stated that the Goddess of Mercy rests in a lotus ponds and often travels via a huge lotus flower. The best time to visit is early July till mid August. Be sure to drink lots of water as the weather could be scorching hot and might cause dehydration. #semiwon#summervacation #koreatravel
