The beauty brought about by mutilation is wrapped in great regret

To Yangcheng to see the Shousheng Temple Glazed Pagoda, when I arrived it was already five o'clock, I thought I guess I can't see it, I didn't expect to meet the grandfather at the entrance of the temple, smiling and asking what we came to see, I said I wanted to see the Glazed Pagoda, he said so quickly up to see it, then the grandfather rode a little sheep a ride of dust, disappeared into the sunset. Climbing up the small hill, an old woman is drying vegetables at the door, the gate of Shousheng Temple is open, there is no one in the small temple, just like an ordinary village temple. But the glazed pagoda standing in the temple proves the unusualness here. Shousheng Temple, built in the Later Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, was destroyed by war during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt by Facheng and other monks during the Tianxi period, and in the fourth year of Zhiping, it was granted the "Shousheng Zen Temple" by Song Yingzong. During the Ming Dynasty, the temple underwent several renovations. Among the existing buildings, except for the front hall, which is a Ming Dynasty relic, the rest are mostly Qing Dynasty buildings. The glazed pagoda in the temple is considered a treasure. It was built in the 36th year of the Ming Dynasty. It has 10-level octagonal steps and is 27.8 meters high. The tower body uses black, yellow, purple, ink green, peacock blue and other colors of colored glaze. There are 177 glazed reliefs and more than 480 glazed statues. The most distinctive feature is that each floor has a different Buddhist story theme, including Galan Protector, Twenty-Four Heavens, Shakyamuni Dharma, Buddhist Holy Land, Eggplant Purple Glazed, Green Scripture Glazed, Taoist Thirty-Three Days Listening, Buddha Speaks Amitabha Sutra and two floors of Thousand Buddhas. The Shousheng Temple Glazed Pagoda was built by the local famous glazing craftsman Qiao Yongfeng and his sons Qiao Changzheng and Qiao Changyuan in Yangcheng County. Only by being in the Shousheng Temple can one realize the golden content of this glazed pagoda, which seems to have lit up the whole old and dim temple with itself. Though upon closer inspection, it was distressingly mutilated. There are so many incomplete images of the Bodhisattva, who at first glance are disappearing Buddha heads, or have experienced theft, or have experienced man-made destruction in a special age, I cannot even imagine how sad the hearts of those who once built it and those who expected it to be built, who to blame? And it seems no one can blame, this mood is the most frustrating! The glazed pagoda of Keshou Shengji Temple is extremely beautiful even though it is scarred. The brilliance that has not been washed away by time, because the remaining white left by the damage, gives the viewer enough space for the imagination, those expressions, the headdress, must be so vivid that it is eye-catching. Hopefully one day this mutilated glazed pagoda can be restored to some extent, although it will definitely not regain its original appearance, but it may bring a little comfort.
