I went to Wilson Stump in Yakushima.

Yakushima, a natural world heritage site. Wilson Stump is a Yakusugi stump on Yakushima that was cut down by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi for the construction of the Great Buddha of Kyoto (some say it was for the construction of Osaka Castle). After Hideyoshi conquered Kyushu in 1587, Hideyoshi ordered Shimazu Yoshihiro to cut down timber from Yakushima. Around 1590, 11 large ships from Shodoshima carried Yakusugi timber to Osaka for the construction of the Great Buddha of Kyoto, and one of them...
