This time we will introduce Taiko Rock, located in Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, a famous spot for moss called Moss Forest. 🪨 When you hit the rock, the sound reverberates and sounds like a drum, which is why it was named "Taiko Rock." 　 This Taiko Rock is a huge granite rock located at the very back of Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, about 2.8 km from the Shiratani entrance and at an altitude of 1,050 m, and you can enjoy different views depending on the season. If the weather is good, you can see the mountains of Yakushima, including Miyanoura-dake, Nagata-dake, Okina-dake, and Tachu-dake, from the summit.
