The extraordinary Shangli Ancient Town in Ya'an

Shangli Ancient Town is more than 20 kilometers away from Ya'an city center, with provincial highway 105 (Ya Shang line) running from south to north through the whole town. Shangli Ancient Town is a famous historical and cultural town in Sichuan. It was an important post station for the ancient Linqu Road of the Southern Silk Road to enter Ya'an. The town is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a forest coverage rate of over 85%, where you can enjoy the fresh and pleasant air and cool and comfortable temperature. It is an ideal place for leisure and summer vacation. Although it is now well-developed and commercially prosperous, it still retains its elegant simplicity. Two waters sandwich a mirror, and two bridges drop rainbows, which is an accurate depiction of Shangli Ancient Town. Because of the abundance of water and bridges, the ancient town has a rare charm of southern water towns. The stream is not big, very clear, with various bridges and walkways lined up on it, and many restaurants and tea houses on both sides. On a quiet afternoon, holding a cup of clear tea here, not thinking about anything, letting your mind be lazy, you will feel all the heat disappear. From June 1935 to February 1936, the Red First Army passed through Ya'an and met with the Red Fourth Army under Jiajin Mountain in Dawai. There are still more than 70 Red Army stone inscriptions in Shangli Ancient Town, which is the town with the most Red Army stone inscriptions in Ya'an. The Wenfeng Tower and Shuangjie Filial Piety Archway on the edge of the town are also worth a look.
