Xuzhou Travel Guide: Avoid the Tourist Traps

📷 Recommended scenic spots: 📍Baolian Temple: After arriving in Xuzhou, I recommend heading straight to Baolian Temple. There is free luggage storage at the entrance of the scenic area. You can get three sticks of incense upon entering (if you want to eat vegetarian noodles, try to go early, as it gets very crowded during meal times). 📍Yi Ba Night Market: A landmark in Xuzhou that is almost a must-see, with a huge logo, as well as many cold noodles and fried chicken snacks 🍜. 📍Xuzhou Museum: Reservations need to be made one day in advance. Closed on Mondays! On the third floor of the museum, you can see the "Xuzhou version of Vision Wei" and the "I don't want to work version." 📍Xingshi Community: There are many hidden gem shops to explore, including vintage stores, coffee shops, and dessert shops. However, it is not highly recommended, as there are many people lining up to take photos. Some of the graffiti walls, in my opinion, are not worth a special trip. Those who like taking photos can come. 📍Yunlong Mountain - Yunlong Lake: The north gate is highly recommended. Hike up the mountain + take the cable car down, which saves time and effort, and you can also see a panoramic view of Xuzhou at sunset. There are a lot of mosquitoes on the mountain. After going down the mountain, it is very convenient to scan a shared electric bike to Yunlong Lake. When the weather is good, you can see a pink-orange sunset and a natural swimming pool. It feels like everyone is very chill! 📍Confucian Temple - Huilongwo: Choose a hotel near the Confucian Temple or Suning Plaza, as it is very convenient to travel around! You can walk past the Confucian Temple and Huilongwo. The Confucian Temple is very small and there are no stalls during the day. If you don't want to take photos at the popular spots, you don't need to come. Huilongwo is worth a visit, about 1 hr or so, and is a very charming ancient alley that is also great for taking photos. 📷 Food Guide ✅Xia Bao Bing Bing Fen: The mung bean smoothie is delicious, and there are many toppings. A very large portion!! Very refreshing after eating!! ✅Laomo (thin pancake) rolled with gluten: Laomo rolled with grilled gluten is very creative, chewy, and delicious!! ✅Lao Kuishan Rice Noodles and Yipin Piaoxiang Rice Noodles on Fuguo Street are delicious and come in large portions. Really not a tourist trap. The old shop has been open for many years, and there are basically no seats during meal times!! ✅Guo Ji Spicy Cake Shop: I go to Fuguo Street to buy spicy cakes! The spicy steamed buns are really fragrant when they are freshly baked, CNY 2/piece. ✅Yan Ting Pancake: You can choose from a lot of dishes, very fragrant and delicious! So delicious that you want to buy a lot to take back! ✅Da Chu Jia Jujube Cake: There are really so many flavors!! Original, hawthorn, chocolate, walnut, sunflower seed, and cranberry. The freshly baked ones are very fragrant. People passing by can't help but buy some. The jujube flavor is very strong, sweet but not greasy!! ✅Da Zhang Laomo Village: The chicken hot pot, laomo rolled with Huizhou dried vegetables, and stir-fried beef with yellow beef are all great choices!! There are really many dishes, and the portions are huge. The laomo here can really be rolled with anything, hahaha. ✅Xu Ji Pig Head Meat Baked Bun: The baked bun is crispy! The pig head meat is very fragrant and tender. ✅Yunlong Rang Tea: Milk tea only available in Xuzhou, quite refreshing fresh milk tea~ ✅Lao Zheng Grilled Gluten: Mutton + gluten rolled in a pancake, what a great way to eat it!!
