The first door into Baolian Temple is inscribed with "Pantao Holy Land". Standing under the door, you feel like you have traveled to a fairyland. Baolian Temple was first built during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (during the Yongxing period of the Northern Wei Dynasty) and is the first Indian-style temple in China. It has gone through vicissitudes over the past thousand years and has been rebuilt and destroyed several times. It was first called Longhua Temple, and later named Hongfeng Temple and Honglian Temple. It was named Baolian Temple during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and was abandoned on the eve of liberation. Reconstruction began in 2009. The Po Lin Monastery has "eight halls, two pavilions and one courtyard".
