Xuancheng Fangtang: 2,000 Acres of Bald Cypress Trees (Part 1) Huangshan is the most famous tourist attraction in Anhui and even East China. The many Hui-style scenic areas in Huangshan City are also popular tourist destinations in Anhui, overshadowing other areas in southern Anhui, such as Xuancheng, which borders Huangshan. Xuancheng, the birthplace of Xuan paper, is home to many ancient villages, as well as Taohua Pond and Jingtai Mountain, which are mentioned in Li Bai's poems. Today, however, we will introduce Fangtang in Ningguo County, Xuancheng. Ningguo, located in the southeast of Xuancheng City, is located at the northern foot of Tianmu Mountain. It is one of the top 100 greenest counties and cities in China in 2020, and is known as the hometown of Chinese yew and Phyllostachys edulis. It is home to several 4A-level scenic spots, such as the largest waterfall group in southern Anhui, the Jiutian Silver Waterfall, and the Enlong World Wooden House Village. However, the most unmissable scenic spot in Ningguo this season is Qinglong Bay National Forest Park in Fangtang Township. Fangtang Township, known as the back garden of western Ningguo, is rich in tourism resources. In 1998, a dam was built on the upper reaches of the Xijin River, forming a reservoir with a capacity of nearly 1 billion cubic meters. The water area of more than 30 square kilometers became an artificial lake, and 38 islands were formed in the lake. Three years later, the area was connected to the Banqiao Nature Reserve to form the Qinglong Bay Ecological Reserve. In 2004, Qinglong Bay was approved as a national forest park. Qinglong Bay National Forest Park is a mountain lake scenic area with rippling lake water, towering cliffs, and rich plant and animal resources. However, the most attractive feature is the bald cypress wetland park in the heart of the reservoir. Every November, the bald cypress forest in Qinglong Bay, the undisputed star of the show, turns from green to yellow, then from yellow to red, and finally, as the cold winter arrives, from light red to dark red. The red color of the lake is a hymn to life in the frost and snow.
