Muli Hong Village, a cliffside ancient village with no road access, departing from Hefei.

Known as the ancient village in the clouds, Muli Hong Village is a popular destination for hikers. The village is shrouded in clouds for half of the year (unfortunately, I didn't see it this time, but I'll be back). Although not as famous as Xidi or Hongcun, Muli Hong Village is a natural wonderland. Built in the Ming dynasty, the village is home to 56 households and 162 people. The village is a typical Huizhou-style mountain village, with Huizhou-style architecture. The village is surrounded by cliffs on three sides, with only the south side connected to Kuzhu Ridge. Open the window to see a sea of bamboo, and feel like you're in a painting. Location: Navigate to Muli Hong Village [Transportation] Self-driving: The road to Muli Hong Village is narrow, so you'll need some driving skills. At the foot of the mountain, you'll need to climb about 800 steps, which takes about 30 minutes. You can hire a porter to carry your luggage (CNY 10 per backpack, CNY 20 per small suitcase). [Food] Every homestay offers meals, which are all local farm dishes. They're so delicious that you'll want to eat several bowls, especially with rice wine. [Accommodation] Choose a Muli Hong view room on the second floor with a balcony to enjoy the sea of clouds and sunrise. In the evening, sit on the large platform by the mountain, enjoy the breeze, eat, and chat. After dinner, have a cup of coffee, and at midnight, look at the stars and listen to the cicadas.
