Xingyi Off-the-Beaten-Path Attractions Recommendation!!!

On the trip to Xingyi, we visited several lesser-known spots suitable for parents and kids to explore. 1⃣ Qianxinan Prefecture Museum New Hall 💯 The museum showcases the "Yelang Culture" through unearthed bronzes, pottery, and more, unveiling the mystery of the ancient Yelang Kingdom. Tips: ⏰: 1-2 hours 💰: Free, no reservation needed. 👭: Suitable for all ages PS: Inside the exhibition hall, we saw a "money tree" artifact from the Eastern Han Dynasty. When reading a Sanxingdui picture book with the kids later, we found the book also introduced the Han Dynasty money tree, which was a delightful surprise. The real artifact in the museum connected well with the knowledge from the book—this might be the true meaning of travel. 2⃣ Liu Family Manor 💯 This site mainly features architecture and history. The Liu Family Manor was the residence of the Liu brothers, warlords of the Qian faction during the Republic of China era. It consists of 13 buildings blending Chinese and Western styles and is one of the best-preserved and largest modern landlord warlord manors in Guizhou. The manor includes military defense watchtowers and walls, some of which remain; traditional courtyards and Western-style buildings; a Loyalty and Righteousness Shrine and a Flower Hall. The Liu Family Manor feels like a history textbook, allowing visitors to sense the power struggles of the Qianxinan warlords, the rise and fall of the family, and the true social landscape of that time. Tips: ⏰: 1.5-2 hours 💰: Free entry with ID registration, open on Mondays 👭: Suitable for adults PS: On the day of our visit, there was a guided group tour. We learned that Xingyi has a strong education level, and some prestigious schools have historical ties to the Liu family. 3⃣ Triassic Museum (Hotel) 👍 This is a small fossil museum themed around Triassic marine reptiles. The hotel and museum are connected, and the exhibition space is not large. Taking kids around can help them learn more about fossils. Tips: ⏰: 0.5 hours 💰: Free admission, no reservation needed, closed on Mondays 👭: Suitable for kids ‼️: On public holidays and during summer vacation, there should be a dedicated guide in the evening. 4⃣ Jieshan Central Wetland Park 👍 A wetland park focused on wetland landscapes with excellent greenery. The park is long and features walking paths, viewing platforms, and leisure plazas, making it ideal for residents to stroll and sightsee. Our hotel was nearby, and we came here almost every evening for a walk. The kids played with local children for a while. Tips: 💰: Free 👭: Suitable for all ages ‼️: The park hosts many markets and is lively at night. There are many nearby food options; we recommend Shengzhiwei Buyi Sour Fish Soup, Zouji Chicken Rice Balls, Zhenfeng Glutinous Rice, and Zhang Xiaojun Lamb Noodles. PS: In the Dafang Old Street area, we stumbled upon a photography exhibition showing the changes in the wetland park area over the past decade. The photos vividly reveal the development and transformation of Xingyi in recent years, which was quite impressive. All these recommended spots are within Xingyi city, easy to reach by taxi, and suitable for all ages. If you have enough time, visiting these off-the-beaten-path attractions lets you experience another side of the city.
