A place to calm the mind, Nanhe Baique Temple.

Baique Temple is located in Baifo Village, 10 kilometers northeast of Nanhe District, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. It was built during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The temple faces north and covers an area of more than 100 acres. The origin of Baique Temple is related to Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is said that in the late Northern and Southern Dynasties, Guanyin Bodhisattva transformed into the daughter of King Miaozhuang, Princess Miaoshan, and practiced Buddhism in Baifo Village. She was extremely compassionate and eventually achieved the Tao, giving birth to the "Thousand-Hand Guanyin Bodhisattva" to protect all beings. Therefore, the name "Baique Temple Guanyin Bodhisattva Women's Taoist Temple" was born. Since then, the temple has been highly respected by the imperial court, and it has been expanded in the first year of Yuan Zhizheng, the 15th year of Ming Zhengde, the 50th year of Qing Kangxi, the 40th year of Qianlong, and the 3rd year of Jiaqing. In 1988, Baique Temple was approved by the Hebei Provincial People's Government and the Hebei Buddhist Association to open as the "Hebei Nanhe County Baique Temple Women's Taoist Temple". It is also one of the earliest open places in Hebei Province, with influence in many surrounding provinces and cities. It is the largest nunnery in Hebei Province.
