The Five Elders Peaks Reopen After Five Years

Ascending straight towards the heavens, reminiscent of Tianzhu (India) protecting the benevolent clouds. 1. Route: From here, you can ascend the Five Elders Peaks, admire "Five Elders Peaks Reaching for the Sky," one of Xiamen's eight scenic wonders, and enjoy breathtaking views of Xiamen University, the Twin Towers, and Gulangyu Island. You can also access the Botanical Garden directly and stroll to the Railway Culture Park. 2. Five Elders Peaks: Behind Nanputuo Temple stand five peaks: Bell Peak (First Peak), Second Peak, Middle Peak (Third Peak), Fourth Peak, and Drum Peak (Fifth Peak). These five peaks rise majestically, often shrouded in white clouds. Below the clouds, lush forests create a scene resembling five bearded elders seated facing the sky, with trees as their beards and clouds as their sleeves, gazing out at the sea. Hence the name "Five Elders Peaks Reaching for the Sky." The characters for "Five Elders Peaks" are engraved on the stone slope. 3. Calligraphy: Photos 5, 8, and 9 showcase numerous cliff carvings, far more than in other temples.
