Exploring Xiamen

Like most cities in China, Xiamen is most easily accessible by air, but this time I took a train from Shenzen in only about three hours. From the train station you can take the subway to the center. Xiamen is known for its year round enjoyable climate. Even in winter time it won't be too cold. Therefore a visit to the beach must be on your schedule. OK parts of the beach are not that nice with the big motorway running along it, but when you find the areas that don't, you will be in for a treat. Get some fresh seafood from one of the stalls or enjoy a big coconut. That will put you in the holiday spirit. Besides the beaches most people will also visit the beautiful Gulangyu island. I went to the huge Nanputuo temple near the university instead. There are so many temples in China, but you won't be bored visiting Nanputuo. Food is everywhere. Whether you get some street food on the beach or go to one of the big shopping malls for something fancier. If you want to try something western, I'd recommend the German restaurant Paulaner for some pork knuckle or sausages. #beaches #xiamen #xiamentravel
