Andaz Xiamen.

This time I finally checked in at Andaz Xiamen during my short trip to Xiamen. I was not surprised that I liked it very much. Jaya's design is indeed very good, with a delicate and modern Nanyang style, and the service is also good. As a northerner who lives in Shanghai and often travels to South China and Southeast Asia, I have always had a view that I have not seriously verified, that is, many modern design languages we are familiar with actually have a very obvious "northern" style, or more accurately, a temperate style, because many designs that are considered classic were born in temperate regions with distinct seasons such as Europe and America. Before the advent of air conditioning, the entire tropical region was not a "livable" area due to temperature problems. The Chinese traditionally feared the "miasma" of Lingnan, and the European perspective also instinctively guarded against tropical colonies. These things are reflected in the design, that is, you can see the northern design language in the tropical world, but it is difficult to find anything that draws on tropical culture in the temperate world; at the same time, these designs with a strong tropical texture also need more detailed efforts to bridge people's psychological "prejudice" and subjective instinct. So if you use this idea to re-examine some classic tropical designs, one of my personal evaluation criteria is that it cannot give you a feeling of damp heat. Like the large carpet in the center of the Andaz lobby bar, it doesn't make you feel out of place (after all, using a large area of carpet is a habit of temperate people); in public areas, although it is a "window to green" texture, the plants are actually isolated outside the window, which makes people feel that they are in the tropics but are not affected by those annoying tropical elements. Inside the room, I prefer the track-fixed wooden frame "mosquito net" and the wooden louver-style sliding doors of the cloakroom and washroom. Behind the cloakroom is a mirror, and the washroom is completely breathable; including the shape of the washroom mirror. In addition, on the entire moving line, the side elevator directly to the G floor is highly praised. Although many hotels like to only set up internal elevators that can directly reach the guest rooms in the lobby (which should be), the clever thing here is that it has an extra entrance and a more concealed guest room elevator, so you don't need to go to the third floor lobby to transfer again. In short, the experience is pretty good!
