Jimei School Village

Jimei School Village is the general term for various schools and cultural institutions in Jimei, located on the Jimei Peninsula in Jimei Village, Xiamen. It was founded by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Chen Jiageng and is well-known at home and abroad. The Jimei School Village is very large, and it is recommended to visit the Dragon Boat Pool, Shigu Road, and Jiaqing's former residence. The Dragon Boat Pool was built by Mr. Chen Jiageng on the beach, enclosing the outer, middle, and inner pools, the outer pool is commonly known as the Dragon Boat Pool. There are seven pavilions with different styles on the side of the pool: Qiming, Nanhui, Changgeng, Left, Right, Feng, and Yuan. The Jimei School Village Dragon Boat Race is held here almost every year during the Dragon Boat Festival. In addition to commemorating Qu Yuan, the Dragon Boat Race is particularly advocating the spirit of sincerity and perseverance. Shigu Road is located in the southeast corner of Jimei District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province. It is said that before the Dragon Boat Pool was built, there were several large rocks in the sea that made a rumbling sound when hit by waves, hence the name. During the day, there are many well-preserved old buildings on Shigu Road, which you can slowly appreciate. At night, Shigu Road turns into a modern food street, where you can also slowly taste. Jiaqing's former residence is located at the rear corner of Jimei Town and is the place where Mr. Chen Jiageng lived. The former residence is a two-story small building, which is displayed according to the living conditions of the gentleman in his later years, and treasures manuscripts, clothes, and daily necessities. The guest room, dining room, work room, bedroom, etc. on the second floor are all set up as they were during Mr. Chen's lifetime. The three-story building to the west of the former residence is the Chen Jiageng Life Story Exhibition Hall.
