Xi'an Delta Hotels | Slightly Regret Not Choosing the Sheraton Next Door

🏨If you're looking for hotel status, Xi'an is indeed a great place to earn hotel loyalty points (just my personal opinion, no offense intended, experiencing different hotels is my goal). There are over 30 IHG properties and over 20 Marriott properties, prices aren't expensive, and you can occasionally earn some points during flash promotions. ❓Speaking of Marriott Group, why is there a layout of 2 JW Marriotts, 4 Sheratons, and 0 Marriott Hotels? How did this happen? 🌝This time in Xi'an, I chose the less well-known Delta Hotels, experiencing this brand for the first time. It should be the newest of the 4 locations in China. (Shanghai Baoshan Delta opened in 2017, Kunming Delta in 2020, Jiuzhaigou Delta in 2022) [One] Great location: Opened in 2023, the hotel is situated in Longshou Yuan, a 3-minute walk from Line 2 subway station. Nearby are Impression City mall and the 5A-level Daming Palace National Heritage Park. The commercial area is well-developed, and all major Xi'an attractions are easily accessible. [Two] Good value: Visited in early March, paid 450 yuan and received 3,000 bonus points from a flash promotion. Includes lounge access and breakfast - whether it's good or not, whether you eat it or not is another story 😄 but it's there. [Three] Hotel design is easily overlooked: The public areas aren't large, making them feel cramped, and the ceiling height isn't impressive. Some areas are outsourced, directly facing the elevators. It gets noisy when there are many guests. But it does have design elements: gray-white and wood tones create a simple elegance, pixel-art-like structures resembling ancient buildings echo Xi'an's historical atmosphere, and a red and black jade column with a pine bonsai adds vitality. After all, it belongs to the same premium classic brand category as Marriott and Sheraton. [Four] Not generous with room upgrades: They even gave me a room closest to the elevator. The room features gray and brown colors with warm yellow lighting, creating an overall cozy atmosphere. The bedding was comfortable, and I slept well. The view outside the window is forgettable. [Five] Food quality lags behind: Except for the freshly made noodles during happy hour, I took one bite of everything else and put it down. The variety is complete - cold dishes, hot dishes, vegetables, fruits, and salads - but the taste could be improved. The next morning's breakfast featured the same noodles but with leftover toppings from the night before, significantly reducing the quality. By the way, dinner doesn't include alcoholic beverages, and if you want an apple, you need to purchase it separately. [Six] Executive lounge shows cost-cutting: It exists and is on a high floor with a nice view. You can swipe your card to enter and grab drinks and snacks all day, but there's no staff. Happy hour is held in the same place as the breakfast area on the first floor. [Seven] Wellness facilities mainly for profit: No swimming pool, and the gym is outsourced. It's probably quite busy, so hotel guests naturally avoid the crowds. My first stay at a Delta Hotels property was neither impressive nor disappointing. Next time in Xi'an, I'll try the Sheraton next door, which I've heard has a good reputation.
