Xiaqi Village in Wuyuan | The ancient village named by Emperor Guangxu because of a chrysanthemum

💬 Introduction Xiaqi is known as "the first village of Chinese tea culture" and "national ecological demonstration village", located 45 kilometers northeast of Wuyuan County at the confluence of Duanxin Water and Xiaqi Water, divided into Upper and Lower Xiaqi. Most of the village houses are Qing Dynasty buildings with distinctive styles. The alleys in the village are paved with bluestone, winding and turning like a chessboard. According to legend, during the Zhenyuan era of Emperor Dezong of Tang (787 AD), an official surnamed Wang took refuge here, and since it was dawn, the village was named "Xiaqi", and now most of the villagers also have the surname Wang. Later, a family with the surname Hong built a village one kilometer upstream and also named it "Xiaqi". To distinguish them, the village where the Wang family lives is called "Lower Xiaqi", and the village where the Hong family lives is called "Upper Xiaqi".
