Wuyi Mountain: A Rain-Soaked Journey Full of Quiet Beauty

Our visit to Wuyi Mountain didn’t go quite as planned — the weather had other ideas. Rain accompanied us for two out of the three days we stayed, yet the charm of this mystical place still managed to shine through the clouds. Day 1 We arrived at Wuyi North Station in the afternoon and took a taxi to Qingmingli Hotel, a cozy retreat tucked away near the heart of town. After dropping off our luggage, we set off to wander the nearby streets, full of curiosity and hope. We strolled through Songjie, where traditional tea shops line the road like little treasures. We bought a cup of tea — served with a tiny teapot perched adorably on top — and walked slowly along the river, letting the views sink into us like poetry. But the peace didn’t last long. Within hours, the skies opened up. The rain fell heavy and fast, soaking us completely. We returned to the hotel drenched but strangely content, wrapped in the quiet rhythm of mountain rain. Day 2 We had hoped to hike in the Wuyi Mountain Forest Park, but the rain stayed with us. So we changed our plans and spent the day at a hot spring resort instead. And truly — what a memory that became. Sitting in steaming pools as cold raindrops kissed our faces felt like a strange, beautiful ritual. It was calm, surreal, and entirely unexpected. Day 3 At last, the weather cleared, and we made our way to the forest park. The towering rock formations were absolutely breathtaking — like scenes from an ancient painting. But alas, another small heartbreak awaited us: the bamboo rafting was closed, as it doesn’t run on Mondays. It was something we had looked forward to the most, so our spirits dipped. Still, we hiked up to Tianyou Peak, where the views restored a bit of magic. With time running short and our biggest wish unfulfilled, we decided to leave early and caught an earlier train home. Despite the weather and missed moments, we would still wholeheartedly recommend Wuyi Mountain. The rock formations are truly otherworldly, and the air carries something ancient and grounding. We only hope your visit brings sunshine… and a chance to float down the river on a bamboo raft, just as we dreamed. #wuyishan #hiddengemschina #wuyiteatrail #rainydaymagic #localguides #tianyoupeak #bambooraftingdream 📍Address: Xingcun Town, Wuyishan City, Nanping, Fujian Province, China 🏨 Hotel: No. 8 Yuhua Street, Wuyishan City, Nanping, Fujian Province, China
