Wuyishan, Fujian (Day 4).

Today, we rented a car to tour around Wuyishan. We picked up the car early in the morning and drove 20 km south along G237, then turned onto a country road to Minyue King City Museum. The Han Que (a type of ancient Chinese architecture) built at the visitor center is very impressive. The museum mainly introduces the history of the Minyue Kingdom and the urban layout of Minyue King City. There are four exhibition halls, which take more than an hour to visit. Walk 1 km forward from the museum to the Minyue King City Ruins. There is no guard, but there is a gate machine. You need to scan a code to enter, but no ticket is required. The ruins are in an irregular rectangle shape, and you can see the tamped cobblestone foundation and walls. After lunch, we walked along the west side of the Wuyishan Scenic Area, passing through Wuyishan No. 1 Scenic Road, Jiangdong Road, and Gaoxin Road, basically circling the scenic area. The scenery along the way is beautiful, with lush vegetation. We passed by the scenic area's bamboo raft wharf, Sancai Peak, Taoyuan Cave Taoist Temple, Tianshang Palace, the west entrance of Wuyishan Scenic Area, Baiyun Temple, Yanzike, Yulin Kiln Ruins, Lotus Peak, and other attractions. You can drive along this road and stop for a leisurely tour. Sancai Peak is suitable for bird watching, and Baiyun Temple is a good place to watch the sunrise and sea of clouds. The Yulin Kiln Ruins have a museum introducing Wuyishan's black-glazed porcelain, and two Song Dynasty dragon kiln ruins are well preserved. We arrived at Xiamei Ancient Residence at almost 18:00. Entering the ancient village requires a ticket of CNY 50 (free after 18:00). We paid CNY 10 each to a local to take us in from the back and give us a brief introduction. The most important ancient building is the Zou Family Ancestral Hall. We will leave Wuyishan tomorrow morning and take a box of Da Hong Pao home to taste.
