Taoxin Shuiyun Scenic Area

The Taoxin Shuiyun Scenic Area covers an area of 81.8 square kilometers, with a crisscrossing water system distributed in a 'Bagua' pattern, totaling 100 kilometers. Taoxin embankment was built in the second year of Daguan in the Northern Song Dynasty (1108). It is said that a Tao surnamed carpenter, a descendant of Tao Yuanming, moved here from Jiangxi Jiangzhou, leading the people to enclose the area into an oval shape. The water channels were dug according to the well-field system, with ditches interconnected, forming a water system of ten thousand acres that has remained intact for a thousand years. Being there is like entering a labyrinth, a true wonder of the south of the Yangtze River. Boating in Taoxin Water Town, with trees providing shade, clear waves rippling, lotus leaves spreading out, and seagulls playing, the freshness and simplicity of nature are intoxicating. Xianghu Island Park is one of the main attractions within the embankment. With Xianghe Pavilion, Fishing Pavilion, Qiangtao Pavilion, Drunken Old Man Pavilion, Nine-Turn Long Bridge, and Xianghu Hotel, the natural beauty of the ten thousand acres of water system is further enhanced by the simplicity and elegance of these ancient structures.
