The former site of Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School

The former site of Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School is located at No. 26 Jihe South Road, Jinghu District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, covering an area of 4,133.88 square meters, with a construction area of about 11,483 square meters. It is a building from the period of the Republic of China. The Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School was designed and supervised by Spanish missionary Father Pu Lu. The foundation was laid on October 28, 1934, the 23rd year of the Republic of China. The completion ceremony was held on December 16, 1935, the 24th year of the Republic of China, and it was the largest private church school in Wuhu at that time. The overall layout of the Neisi Building is in the shape of the character '日', built along the mountain, adapting to the terrain by being higher or lower accordingly, with five stories built at the foot of the mountain and two stories built on the mountain, distributed in a step-like fashion. The south entrance is the main entrance of the building, where one can ascend the steps to the platform and enter the main hall of the second floor of the teaching building. The north entrance is a secondary entrance, nearly 8 meters higher than the south entrance, where one can directly reach the third floor via the steps. The walls of the former site of Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School feature simple vertical lines, and the roof is made of double-pitched red machine-made tiles. At the same time, it takes into account the aesthetic orientation and expression forms of traditional Chinese architecture, combining European architectural symbols with the simple Huizhou-style horse head wall design. The former site of Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School is one of the successful examples of the combination of Chinese and Western architectural forms, with high research value in architectural art. In October 2019, the former site of Wuhu Neisi Advanced Industrial Vocational School was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
