West Lake Magical Night | A Midsummer Lotus Walk Under the Stars

#chinatravel The newly launched West Lake Magical Night lotus-themed night walk opened this July, and I visited on its first evening. Tickets are ¥35, with a ¥15 discount available if you have a tourism or park pass. The area isn’t large, but it’s beautifully designed and has some live performances (check the board behind the stage for the schedule). That said, it was very hot—I wore a tank top and shorts and still ended up drenched in sweat. Mosquitoes are active too, so bring repellent (I swatted two long-legged black mosquitoes myself!). Overall, it’s a pretty and poetic stroll that captures a summer night’s elegance, but don’t set your expectations too high—I’d give it a 70/100.
