Washington State (State of Washington) is a state located in the northwest of the United States. The state capital is Olympia, and the largest city is Seattle. Washington State is bordered by the British Columbia of Canada to the north, Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The state is named after the first president of the United States, George Washington, and joined the federation on November 11, 1889, becoming the 42nd state of the United States.
