Guangxi Self-driving Tour (Part 9)

After leaving Tianbao Ancient Village, we headed towards Wanzai Ancient City and chose to visit Xiong Xiong's former residence along the way. Xiong Xiong was an early revolutionary who once served as the deputy director of the Political Department of the Whampoa Military Academy, essentially taking over the work after Zhou Enlai left Whampoa. He participated in the Xinhai Revolution, joined the Chinese Revolutionary Party, and later joined the Chinese Communist Party during his stay in France. Unfortunately, he was killed in the anti-revolutionary incident on April 15, 1927, in Guangzhou. Whampoa figures such as Zhou Enlai, Nie Rongzhen, and Chen Geng all held him in high esteem. Xiong Xiong's former residence is his family's old house, a Qing Dynasty Gan-style building, now a red education base. There are many old trees outside the house, and the fields are full of blooming rapeseed flowers, making for a beautiful scene. Wanzai Ancient City was one of the highlights of this trip. The travel guides were full of praise, but it was a big disappointment when we got there. I have walked through many ancient cities, towns, and villages, but this was the first time I saw one that was renovated to look like new, no different from the pseudo-ancient buildings popular everywhere. The planning and layout also showed a modern commercial style, which I believe would look nice at night, but it's not to my taste. I canceled the original accommodation plan and drove towards Yichun. I heard that Yichun's night view is best seen from Duosheng Tower, so I chose to have dinner at the nearby Wanda Plaza, only to find out that there were no lights that night. The next morning I went to visit again, but it was not open, and the pseudo-ancient building was also temperamental. However, my impression of Yichun is still good; the city planning and management are quite attentive. Wanzai Ancient City Yichun 7 Jiangxi
