One of Shanxi's Four Famous Towers: Qiufeng Tower｜Emperor Wu of Han Once Visited and Composed Poetry Here

Qiufeng Tower is one of the Four Famous Towers of Shanxi Province, holding a very high historical status and cultural relic value. It is a nationally protected key cultural relic site. The entire tower features a beautiful shape, complex craftsmanship, and a majestic grandeur, reflecting the wisdom of the ancients and possessing great architectural aesthetic significance. [Cute] Qiufeng Tower is located behind the main hall of the Houtu Temple (in the ancient Hedong Commandery Fenyin County, now southwest of Wanrong County, Shanxi Province). It is named after the stele of Emperor Wu of Han Liu Che’s "Autumn Wind Poem" stored in the tower. The exact date of Qiufeng Tower’s establishment is unknown. Due to flooding by the Yellow River, it was repaired during the Kangxi and Tongzhi reigns of the Qing Dynasty. The existing building was rebuilt in the ninth year of Tongzhi (1870 AD). It is said that Emperor Wu of Han Liu Che toured Hedong five times. In the fourth year of Yuanding (113 BC), while worshipping at the Houtu Temple, it was late autumn. He feasted with his ministers on a boat in the Fen River, sang passionately, and wrote the "Autumn Wind Poem." [TeaDrinker] The tower has three floors, each five bays wide and deep, surrounded by corridors, with a cross-gabled roof; on the second and third floors, each side protrudes with a turtle pedestal room topped with a tiled roof and forward-facing mountain flowers; under the corridors of the second and third floors are dougong brackets or flat seats, each housing a stele of Emperor Wu of Han’s "Autumn Wind Poem."
