Hou Tu Temple: A Resplendent Center of Chinese Ancestral Culture

Located in Wanrong County, Shanxi Province, it is the oldest temple dedicated to the goddess Hou Tu (Nuwa) in China, boasting titles such as "Crown of Temples" and "Origin of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing." Emperor Wu of Han visited and worshipped here six times, leaving behind many fascinating stories. Highlights abound✨. The Qiufeng Tower within the temple is unique in form and exquisite in structure. Inside, it houses a Yuan Dynasty-carved stele inscribed with Emperor Wu of Han's "Ode to the Autumn Wind," a truly precious artifact. The temple's architectural layout is meticulous, with imposing halls and superb craftsmanship in wood carving, stone carving, and glazed tiles.
