[The northernmost part of Hokkaido Island]

📍Cape Soya, Hokkaido Located at 45 degrees 31 minutes 22 seconds north, you can see the silhouette of the island of Sakhalin in the distance. At the tip of the cape stands the "Monument of the Northernmost Point of Japan," which has a motif of a single ridge of the North Star and the letter "N" representing north in the center. There is also a statue of explorer Mamiya Rinzo, and many tourists visit as a commemorative spot with a magnificent view. The Cape Soya Drift Ice Museum (second photo) is a facility characterized by its blue exterior walls. In the room, which is regulated to below minus 10 degrees Celsius, drift ice and stuffed animals of Hokkaido are displayed, so you can experience a world of minus even in midsummer.
