Rishiri: Freshly baked bread and specialty coffee

I went to PORT CAFE, which just opened in July 2020. It is located in a corner of a row of houses in front of the Oshidomari Ferry Terminal, which is lined with souvenir shops such as seafood direct sales stores and ramen shops. The shops around the ferry terminal close when the tourist season ends, so it is rare to see one open during the winter. It is run by a married couple, and the name of the shop seems to mean "Port" in Portuguese. They seem to be particular about their coffee beans, and mainly use beans from Brazil. They also bake their own bread in the shop. A local told me that the butter croissants are delicious! On this day, I bought a butter croissant, a chocolate croissant, and a chocolate muffin. As rumored, the butter croissant was very delicious!! I took it for takeout, so it took a while to eat it, and it got cold, but it was crispy. Inside the shop, there is a counter and four tables for two people. The two-seater tables are all long, fixed chairs on the right wall, so even if you have small children with you, you can use them without worry. If you come to the island by ferry, be sure to stop by for a rest. The bread is especially popular on the island, and it sometimes runs out in the afternoon!
