The origin of the place name 'Wafangdian'

The Wafangdian City Museum is located at No. 8, Section 1, Nan Gongji Street, Wafangdian City. The museum was established on August 18, 1984. At that time, it was named 'Fuxian Museum'. The following year, with the county being replaced by a city, Fuxian Museum was renamed Wafangdian City Museum. In August 1992, the 'Old Site of Wafangdian City' was restored and completed, and the museum moved into the old site where it remains to this day. In September 1994, the Wafangdian City Museum was named 'Dalian City Patriotic Education Base' by the CCP Dalian Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government. The 'Old Site of Wafangdian City' is the origin of the place name 'Wafangdian'. Since the early last century, after the Middle East Railway used 'Wafangdian' as the station name, the three characters of 'Wafangdian' gradually became known to the world. However, the original site was demolished due to the expansion of Gongji Street. In 1985, the Wafangdian City government announced this site as a county-level cultural relics protection unit and later allocated funds to restore it in its original location according to Qing-style architecture.
