Black Sand, Bold Waves, and a Whole Lot of Wind: A Day at Iceland’s Black Beach

#magicalxmastrip #iceland #blackbeach If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re on another planet, head straight to Reynisfjara, Iceland’s famous black sand beach. The moment you arrive, you’ll be hit with a landscape so dramatic, it might make you reconsider your current idea of beauty. Picture this: dark volcanic sands stretching out, powerful waves crashing against the shore, and towering basalt sea stacks poking up from the ocean like ancient giants guarding the coast. Your day begins with a brisk walk along the shore, trying to avoid the splash of the relentless surf (spoiler: you won’t). Reynisfjara’s black sand isn’t just visually striking; it’s also incredibly soft, making you feel like you’re walking on powdered charcoal. Don’t forget to look up—the cliffs are lined with puffins during the summer, and if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of them swooping past like little feathered missiles. As you explore, take a moment to marvel at the dramatic rock formations known as Reynisdrangar. These towering basalt stacks are steeped in local legend, believed to be trolls turned to stone by the sun. The wind here is a constant companion, so hold onto your hat (or risk sending it into the ocean). But even if the weather’s less than cooperative, there’s something magical about watching the waves clash against the shore while the rugged landscape stretches before you. Reynisfjara isn’t just a beach—it’s an adventure waiting to be had.

What most people do is to travel the ring (main) road around the island and see all the hotspots. Yes, they are more amazing to see and yes, I saw them as well a few times. But what I can really advise you to do is the following: rent a 4x4 car, take your friends and drive into the highlands. You won’t regret it. It’s the craziest place I’ve ever been to in my life. Around every corner you discover new green volcanoes, huge waterfalls and glaciers. 100% recommended!! . . #iceland #wheniniceland #visiticeland #traveliceland #travel #travel #landscape #photography #awesomepic

Pass Island

It’s something magical where land meets water and to me a beach is always special. Here’s the three most beautiful beaches I have come across on this planet: 1. Pass Island, Philipines. The perfect sunset, the perfect palm tree and probably as close to paradise as you can possibly get. 2. Little Necker, BVI. This tiny sand reef is so photogenic and perfect day stop when sailing. 3. Vik black beach, Iceland. The contrast of this black beach is truly unique. Ocean meet beach meet snow. This can only be found in Iceland. #awesomepic #unforgettableexperiences #scenicspotguide #travelinspiration #beaches #sunset #iceland #springholiday
