Charming village in the Catalan Pyrenees

Vielha is the biggest town in the Vall d’Aran region, a secluded valley in the Pyrenees mountain chain, between Spain and France. The clearest sample of its seclusion is the unique language: aranés, that people in this valley traditionally speak, a sort of mix between Catalan and French languages. During wintertime Vall d’Aran and its capital town, Vielha, receive thousands of tourists, specially ski lovers who come to hit the slopes of the ski resorts in the area. Also, in these dates, Vielha dresses up in Christmas fare and the town looks like a Christmas wonderland. The main square hosts a Christmas tree and you can visit the small souvenir shops and boutiques around it to buy some of the products typical of the region: marmalade, sweet wine, honey, flavored chocolates etcetera.
