The Tsarevets fortress 🇧🇬

Tsarevets is a medieval fortress located on a hill with the same name in Veliko Tarnavo, Bulgaria. It served as the primary fortress and strongest bulwark of the Second Bulgarian Empire between 1185 and 1393. The fortress is situated on a hill that is 206 meters (676 feet) above sea level. The castle complex is located in the center, surrounded by an internal stone wall, two battle towers, and two entrances - north and south. It consists of a throne hall, a castle church, and the king’s chamber. The restoration of the fortress began in 1930 and was completed in 1981 in honor of the 1300th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian state. The fortress is a popular tourist attraction and is known for its spectacular light and sound show that takes place every evening during the summer months. #dreamvoyage
